Susan's Birthday

Notes

This dance was originally written by Jane Dryden.

I have modified it slightly to reduce the number of two-hand turns with the (same) partner. I replaced a 'two-hand turn' in A3 bars 9-12 by 'set & turn single'. This change also avoids the possibility of couples trying to "get on the right side" by doing only half a two-hand turn at either end of the set.

Formation

3 couple longways set with 1st & 3rd couples improper

Music

"Gossip Joan" played 3xAAA, where A music is 12 bars

A score is available online.

† As A2 5-8 is always followed by a circle to the right, the movement flows better when this two-hand turn is performed anti-clockwise. However, assuming the caller does not choose to insist, then each couple can decide which way they want to go without affecting others.
‡ If the following A2 5-8 is going to be performed anti-clockwise, then the movement flows better if this is a left-shoulder do-si-do (that is a 'see-saw').
